ギアカップリングのミスアライメントへの対処
ギアカップリングは、シャフト間の一定のずれを許容するように設計されているため、ある程度の柔軟性が求められる用途に適しています。ギアカップリングは、主に次の3種類のずれに対応できます。
- 角度のずれ： この種のミスアライメントは、接続された2つのシャフトの軸が平行ではなく、わずかな角度で交差している場合に発生します。ギアカップリングは、性能を損なうことなく、通常数度までの適度な角度のミスアライメントに対応できます。
- 平行ずれ: 平行ずれとは、接続された2つのシャフトが平行方向にずれているものの、互いに平行な状態を保っている状態を指します。ギアカップリングはある程度の平行ずれに対応できますが、一般的にはカップリング全体の長さのごく一部に限られます。
- 軸方向のずれ： 軸方向のずれは、2つのシャフトが回転軸に沿ってずれている場合に発生します。ギアカップリングは、ある程度の軸方向のずれには対応できますが、接続機器に軸方向の負荷がかからないように、カップリングのエンドフロート（エンドプレイ）が正しく設定されていることを確認することが不可欠です。
ギアカップリングはある程度のずれには対応できますが、過度のずれは早期摩耗や故障の原因となることに注意が必要です。ギアカップリングの最適な性能と長寿命を確保するためには、定期的なメンテナンスと適切な設置が不可欠です。
